Nelson Adepoyigi, the Ward 5 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area, Ondo State, was abducted by the gunmen, who allegedly took two people who had promised to pay the ₦5 million ransom to free him.
Since then, the kidnappers have demanded ₦30 million in order to free Adepoyigi and the two ransom bearers, Isimeri and Bayode Loco.
According to reports, Adepoyigi was kidnapped on Monday night at around 10 p.m. outside his Ifon home, where he was beaten by the gunmen before being swept away by force.
Confusion has gripped the community as a result of this circumstance, which has further engulfed the victim’s family and political circles in chaos and fear.

After engaging in discussions, the kidnappers lowered their initial demand of ₦100 million to ₦5 million and food supplies. His family and political associates had hoped for Adepoyigi’s return, but after collecting the ₦5 million, they broke their word and are now seeking ₦30 million for his and the two people’s safe return, which has increased their anxieties.
An unnamed source claimed that the same kidnappers also took the people who supplied the ransom hostage.
The unidentified source told the Daily Post, “They have now turned around to demand a fresh ₦30 million before they can release all three of them.”
Ose Local Council Area Chairman Kolapo Oja confirmed the occurrence by revealing that the ransom demand of ₦100 million was reduced to ₦5 million during previous negotiations with the kidnappers, along with the addition of food supplies.
Concerned by the state of affairs, Oja called for calm as state security personnel step up their efforts to guarantee the victims’ safe rescue.
