Atiku Abubakar, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has promised to support the party’s nominee for president.
Even if the party’s presidential candidate is young, Atiku declared that he will support them.
In an interview with DW Hausa, Atiku refuted allegations that the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, may weaken the ADC, pointing out that the party has kept gaining members across the country.
“Whoever becomes the flagbearer, we will support and endorse them,” he declared. Are there three or four of us running for president? Over 10 of us ran for office in the PDP.
“The party has been taken control by the youths. Young people make up the majority of candidates for elective posts in the State Assembly, National Assembly, House of Representatives, and councillorship. We’ve always claimed that women and young people belong in our party. It is our responsibility to create the opportunity and give it to them.
Atiku responded, “Yes, why not,” when asked if he would support a young person running for president if the ADC did.
“All of my needs have been met by Allah. My sons and grandchildren have come home with me. “What are their children’s and their own futures going to be?” he said.
