Supporters of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike’s planned rally were halted by a High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
According to the court ruling, which was issued on Thursday, the rally cannot proceed until a complete hearing is held.
The state capital, Yenagoa, was to host the protest on April 12, 2025.
After word leaked out about the gathering that Wike’s supporters had planned, tensions between Wike and Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri increased.

Concerning the safety of the state, Governor Diri had issued a warning last week that the rally might disrupt the tranquility. He called on the state’s youth, community leaders, and security forces to remain vigilant and contribute to maintaining peace.
