In honor of Workers’ Day, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Federal Government’s Minister of the Interior, has proclaimed Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday.
In a statement released Tuesday evening and signed by Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Tunji-Ojo reportedly praised workers for their dedication and hard work while restating the necessity of peace to propel economic expansion and industrialization.
The glory of the nation and the respect Nigeria enjoys in international society, he said, are primarily due to the efforts of its workers.

Accordingly, Tunji-Ojo encouraged employees to embrace a culture of creativity and efficiency.
In addition to wishing workers a joyous occasion, the minister encouraged Nigerians to maintain optimism because President Bola Tinubu’s current administration is dedicated to the Renewed Hope Agenda he pledged.

“There is dignity in labor; the devotion and commitment to the work we do is essential to nation-building,” he continued.

We urge employees to improve their work in order to push and elevate the standard of governance and ensure that everyone in Nigeria benefits as much as possible from the country’s wealth.

“The safety of the lives and property of all citizens and foreigners in this country is a top priority for this administration.”
