A dental student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is said to have killed himself soon after the test results were made public.
Adebayo Idris, the president of the OAU Dental Students’ Association (IFUDSA), signed a statement confirming the death and calling it a tragic loss.
The association reportedly said that many students may be in shock as a result of the tragedy and encouraged them to support one another and seek assistance.
The declaration further emphasized IFUDSA’s dedication to enhancing mental health services and student wellbeing.
“We announce with great sadness and heavy hearts the passing of one of our colleagues in the Faculty of Dentistry,” the statement says. Shortly after the examination findings were made public, he tragically committed suicide.
