The House of Assembly of Rivers State has given Governor Siminalayi Fubara a 48-hour ultimatum to provide the 2025 budget to the members.
This demand was reportedly made by the MPs on Monday, March 3, 2025, during the session in Port Harcourt.
This comes soon after Rivers State’s leading Ijaw leader, Anabs Sara-Igbe, voiced concerns about the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the political crisis in Rivers State, claiming that it seemed biased and swayed by special interests.
Following Governor Fubara’s promise to Rivers citizens that his government would carry out the Supreme Court’s decision as soon as it acquired a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the decision, Sara-Igbe’s response was issued.

The governor made the comment in response to the ruling by the highest court on Friday, which declared the October 5, 2024, local government elections in Rivers State to be void.
The Supreme Court also mandated that the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) stop distributing federal funds to state local governments.
Governor Fubara revealed in a nationwide broadcast that he had met with his legal staff and that they anticipate obtaining the CTC by Friday, March 7, 2025, before proceeding with any further actions.
