Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who is now suspended, has urged Rivers residents and Nigerians to applaud President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prompt action in declaring an emergency to save the state from impending chaos brought on by the brewing political crisis.
Additionally, Fubara stated that the process of peace and reconciliation needed to rebuild all state offices and institutions, including the legislative and executive branches, was already under progress.
With both branches cooperating for the benefit of the populace, Fubara promised that democracy and sound government will soon return to the state.
According to a statement from Fubara’s chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor addressed Thursday at a gathering in Port Harcourt with Simplified Movement leaders and supporters to commemorate his two years in office.
“I want to reassure you that soon the issues will be resolved, and you will return to your offices—not just at the Legislative arm, but also at the Executive arm,” he stated. I also think that we will resume our previous solid connections and start cooperating once more for the benefit and advancement of the State. Having a forgiving spirit is what matters most.
Fubara asked all Rivers residents, including his supporters, to express their sincere gratitude to the president for his audacious move to end the state’s deteriorating political situation.
He urged them to fully commit to the peace process so that the state could proceed.
“The peace process is already underway,” he declared. Please accept my gratitude for Mr. President’s prompt action in saving the day and bringing stability to the State and the political system. It would have been a different story today if it weren’t for Mr. President.
“I’m not sure how he obtains his knowledge, but the fact is that he made the right decision at the right moment. It is he who deserves your gratitude. I would also like to thank him directly for his action, as well as the national celebrities that moved in and urged him to do so.
It is imperative that we get off our high horses and submit to the peace process. And we are following through on that. The State’s progress is what matters most. The state’s interest comes first; it is not about you.
He pointed out that the second year celebrations would have served to highlight some of the significant achievements made by the government in a number of state areas if not for the political climate that the crisis had contrived.
The government would return stronger, more cohesive, and better equipped to provide the people with the high-quality dividends of democracy, Fubara promised.
He clarified that people had the right to air their resentment and concerns, but he also said that everyone should embrace peace, seek forgiveness, and find reconciliation in order to advance the state.

Fubara begged anyone who might have been let down by his handling of the situation to pardon him, stressing that his actions were motivated by a desire to preserve the State’s peace and advancement.
He thanked the President for his fatherly efforts to bring peace, stability, and good government back to the state and promised to soon reestablish a relationship with Chief Nyesom Wike, the former governor and minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He revealed that a number of reconciliation meetings, some of which were held at the FCT minister’s home, had taken place since the President’s intervention.
“There is no reason why there won’t be peace between me and my Oga,” he remarked, referring to the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister and his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike. We are getting together. We will make amends.
In addition to expressing gratitude to the people for their efforts and giving him the chance to serve, Fubara pledged to uphold the dignity of the State’s citizens, who gave him the mandate.
Respect is a crucial aspect of this life. I want people to respect me, not the other way around. I’m totally on your side,” he responded.
In appreciation of their prayers and devotion, he thanked the people of Rivers and all Nigerians who supported him during the political unrest.
