President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rescheduled his travel to Luanda, Angola, and Johannesburg, South Africa.
This was reportedly done while he awaited additional security briefings about the abduction of Kebbi schoolgirls and the assault on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.
President Tinubu has instructed the police to pursue the bandits who attacked worshippers and ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the whole Ekiti Local Government Area of the state in response to the governor of Kwara State’s request.
Recall that Tinubu was supposed to travel to Luanda for the 7th AU-EU Summit after leaving Abuja today to attend the 20th G20 Summit of leaders in South Africa.
President Tinubu chose to postpone his trip because of the security lapses in Kebbi State and the bandits’ attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku on Monday.
He is currently awaiting information on the attack in Kwara from the Department of State Services, the police, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi in sympathy.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his order to the security services to do every effort to free the 24 schoolgirls who had been kidnapped by the bandits and return them home safely.
