In Ogoni, the Federal University of Environment and Technology was established by a bill that President Bola Tinubu passed into law.
In a brief statement released on Monday, the presidency made this information public on its X platform social media account.
The announcement characterized the event as President Tinubu’s pledge being fulfilled.
“President Bol signed the Federal University of Environment and Technology (TAI) Establishment Bill 2024 into law, upholding the promise,” the State House statement said.
People in Ogoniland were reminded that President Tinubu recently urged them to put their past differences aside and give peace a chance.

President Tinubu made the plea while meeting with a group of Ogoni people, leaders, and high-ranking government officials at the Aso Rock Villa. He said that his administration would give peace, justice, and sustainable development in the region first priority.
In addition to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Tinubu made a strong plea for unity and healing at the meeting, emphasizing that wounds cannot be healed while resentment remains.
President Tinubu urged inclusive participation and mutual understanding and gave National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu instructions to oversee the negotiations.
In a statement, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the President praised the team for accepting the discussion organized by the Federal Government and emphasized the need of cooperation, trust, and inclusivity in resolving persistent problems in the area.
