According to reports, Boko Haram militants assassinated Brig.-Gen. O. Braimah, the Brigade Commander of the Joint Task Force in Benesheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Many of the attackers were killed during the assault on the military formation, according to sources who spoke with Vanguard.
Mallam Lawa Benesheikh, a social media user, revealed this in a post on Thursday, claiming that a sizable contingent of insurgents assaulted the base.
“Innalillahi wa Inna’illaihin raji’un.”
Unfortunately, Benishiehk’s commanding commander has once again been killed by Boko Haram.
“The insurgency stormed the military formation in large numbers yesterday night, which is a tragic situation.
He wrote, “May the souls of the fallen heroes rest in peace.”
Zanna Ajimi, the chairman of Kaga Local Government Area, also attested to the brigade commander’s demise.
Ajimi claimed to have recently visited the military installation and was able to confirm that Braimah was one of the victims of the assault.
He said, “Yes, we just left the military base, and I can confirm to you that the brigade commander is among the casualties.”
Although the precise number could not be verified at the time this article was filed, sources said that a number of militants were also killed during the assault.
