The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been encouraged by Senator David Mark, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to conduct the nationwide bye-elections on Saturday, August 16, 2025, with fairness and transparency.
Mark also encouraged the election umpire to go out a procedure that will rebuild the electoral system’s credibility.
The former Senate President praised the party’s candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly, calling the ADC a “child of necessity,” an attempt to provide Nigerians with a better and alternative form of government.
In the House of Representatives, Senate, and State House of Assembly bye-elections in the states of Anambra, Edo, Oyo, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, Niger, and Ogun, the ADC will put forward candidates.

Paul Mumeh, Senator Mark’s media adviser, made a plea to the public to provide the party a chance to establish its credibility.
A really free, fair, and credible election on Saturday might help restore INEC’s reputation, he emphasized, warning that “all eyes are on the Commission” to rectify previous mistakes that have damaged its public image.
As he urged ADC candidates and their supporters to adhere to electoral regulations and be on the lookout for manipulation or intimidation, the former Senate President praised the candidates’ bravery and commitment.
Senator Mark also urged security agencies to ensure that everyone is treated equally and that the people’s will be allowed to prevail unhindered.
