Robert Ngwu, spokesman for Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has charged that his principal’s academic records at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) have been altered and manipulated.
Nnaji is suspected of forging certificates after being appointed as President Bola Tinubu’s minister, according to reports.
Nnaji, who is now involved in a legal battle over the issue, informed Federal High Court Justice Hauwa Yilwa on Monday that the school was retaining his academic record.
Having earned a second-class honors (lower division) Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry in 1985, Nnaji maintained that the university had no right to keep withholding his academic achievements.
During an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief” on Tuesday, Nnaji’s assistant claimed that the UNN was manipulating his principal’s academic records for political purposes.
According to Ngwu, an authoritative source had exposed persistent manipulation within the organization.
Nnaji made multiple requests for the court’s protection during Monday’s most recent court session, the aide continued.
“He didn’t ask the institution not to touch his academic records,” he stated. Since there was information about what we saw online, including items from a private student’s file being made public, he advised them not to alter or distort anything. That implies that someone is doing that on purpose.
Therefore, we learned that there were certain alterations taking place from a reliable source. The minister requested court protection, and his transcript ought to be made public.
