Nigerian champions Rangers secured a narrow 1-0 win against Angola’s Sagrada Esperanca in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round clash in Uyo on Friday.

Substitute Kazeem Ogunleye netted the winning goal 12 minutes before the end of the match.

Rangers have now registered three goals in four matches across all competitions this season.

The second leg is set to take place at Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Sunday, November 22.

The aggregate winners will progress to the lucrative group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s other entrant, Remo Stars, were knocked out in the first round by Morocco’s AS FAR.
