Some Nigerians have questioned Ali Ndume, the legislator for Borno South, who begged the Senate to permit the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s widow to take his place as the senatorial district representative for Anambra South.
According to reports, Ndume made the case that Ubah’s legacy and goals must be upheld by his family.
During the Valedictory session on Tuesday in honor of the late senator, Ndume made the request.
Ndume made the case that doing so would honor the late senator’s Senate contributions and guarantee that his constituency would continue to be represented, citing historical precedents.
Nigerians, however, criticized Ndume for his proposal, raising concerns about whether political positions are inherited or belong to the family.
