The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau’s (NSIB) report on the airline Air Peace tragedy at Port Harcourt International Airport is surrounded by controversy. It was reported.
The airline’s employees were charged in the report for allegedly testing positive for drugs and alcohol.
According to reports, the NSIB recently published its preliminary findings on the July 13, 2025, incident involving Air Peace’s Boeing 737 aircraft at Port Harcourt International Airport.
The first officer and captain of Air Peace tested positive for ethyl, a byproduct of alcohol, while the cabin crew tested positive for THC from cannabis, according to the NSIB investigation.
On the contentious findings, Air Peace has disagreed with the NSIB.
Despite claiming that it has not yet received the report that implicated its crew members, Air Peace nevertheless provided its own account of events.

“With full approval from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the First Officer (co-pilot) has been reinstated into active flying duties after demonstrating professionalism by calling for a go-around to his captain,” the airline said in a statement posted on X on Friday.
Another member of the Air Peace cabin crew, Victory Maduneme, denied that NSIB had tested positive for narcotics and threatened to take her to court.
Co-pilot David Bernard of Air Peace also discussed the incident, stating that the captain did not adhere to the proper landing procedure.
“You are high for this method, Commander,” I told him, “so let’s start a go-around. And he ignored me,” Bernard remarked.
In the meantime, Alex Badeh, the NSIB’s Director General, has pressed for the conclusions revealed in the contentious study.
