Council of Ndi’Eze Igbo congratulates the new executives of the Igbo-speaking community
…says it’s a new era of peace and unity

The Council of Ndi Eze Igbo congratulates Chief Sunday Udeh on his recent appointment as the President General of the Igbo-Speaking Community. Following a lengthy period of conflict between two factions, High Chief Sunday Eze stepped down as President General voluntarily in order to ensure peace and unity among the Ndigbo in Lagos.
The chairman of the Ndi Eze Igbo council, Eze Chika Nwokedi, who took part in and oversaw the reconciliation of these groups to foster Igbo unity, expressed his gratitude to former PG High Chief Sunday Eze for listening to counsel and letting peace prevail.
The inaugural event of Chief Sunday Udeh and other executives took place in Lagos on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, and had critical stakeholders in attendance. To this course, the council of Ndi Eze Igbo heartily passes across a congratulatory message to the new executives.
Eze (Amb) Dr Chika C. Nwokedi, Eze Okpoko 1 of Obodoukwu, Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo, and Chairman of the Council of Ndi Eze Igbo, and HRH Igwe Dr Ferdinand Aguneke, PhD (General Secretary) of the Council of Ndieze-Igbo Lagos State, congratulate Chief Sunday Udeh on behalf of the council. The congratulatory message to Chief Sunday Udeh reads,
“It gives me great pleasure to congratulate Chief Sunday Udeh, the President General of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos, and the distinguished members of the recently established EXCO on a new era that will elevate our shared aspirations to a new height.”
“In order to fulfil the founding fathers’ expectations, I am confident that the new Igbo-speaking community leadership would bring about a community free from animosity and self-interest conflicts.”
“Wishing the new executives a successful tenure.”
On behalf of Ndi’Eze Igbo, Eze Chika Nwokedi noted that the council is pleased that the Igbo-speaking community has once again found harmony. He added that the new Chief Sunday Udeh administration should avoid granting Eze-ship titles arbitrarily to interested parties who are not Igbo-speaking members. In other words, there should be no giving of the Eze-ship title indiscriminately.
He advises maintaining the newly discovered peace stealthily and prays that the Igbo-speaking community won’t be split apart again.
He added that the Igbo-speaking community should also get an account for the organisation, and any further levies should be paid into the organisation’s account rather than an individual’s personal account, for this is a more standard procedure to move Igbo speaking forward.
In his plea for peace, Eze Chika Nwokedi also praised the Board of Trustees, the electoral committee, and stakeholders for their various contributions to guaranteeing a credible outcome of the event. Advised Ndigbo to abide by state laws; urged the Lagos State Government to uphold its interests in the Igbo-speaking community as promised.
