The former governor of the state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, submitted a bail plea, and a Federal High Court in Kaduna State has scheduled a decision for April 14.
Shortly after the court sessions, Mr. Oluwole Iyamu (SAN), the head of the defense team, revealed this to reporters.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reporters were not permitted to cover the day’s activities in the courtroom.
Iyamu stated that after both sides debated the bail application, the court postponed making a decision.
“The bail application was contested and addressed, and the decision regarding that bail has been scheduled for April 14th,” he stated.
The senior attorney expressed hope that a just ruling would be rendered by the court.
“Any attorney will be optimistic. We have hope. This is a court of justice, and we have presented our reasons before it. We eagerly await the court’s ruling,” he continued.
Iyamu stated that the defense team is ready for a different case that is set on April 10 at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
That’s a different one. We are prepared as attorneys. He stated that the Department of State Services (DSS) was interested in the matter, adding, “We have filed the necessary papers and we will be there.”
According to NAN, the court postponed El-Rufai’s bail application hearing till Wednesday on Tuesday.
The public’s increased interest in the high-profile corruption trial was reflected in the adjournment that followed the hearings, which were conducted under strict security.
El-Rufai is on trial before Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa on a 10-count accusation that includes allegations of money laundering, conversion, and ownership of public property.
