Homes connected to the state’s kidnappers have been razed by the Edo State Government in the communities of Uromi in the Esan North East Local Government Area and Illeh in the Esan West Local Government Area.
The residences are situated in the senatorial area of Governor Monday Okpebholo, as was understood.
Akhere Paul, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security, and Michael Anetor, the Special Task Force Commander, were in charge of the operation.
The anti-kidnapping measure that was just signed into law by the Edo State House of Assembly and approved by Governor Monday Okpebholo, according to Paul, was in line with the demolition exercise.
“The state government will not tolerate any house or establishment used as a hideout for criminal activities,” the Special Adviser on Security pledged.
Before renting out their premises to tenants, he urged landlords to make sure that their tenants have been properly profiled.
Paul said that illicit activity had taken place in these homes. They house victims who have been abducted here, and during a raid, members of the Nigerian Police Force found some lethal weapons.
Under the recently approved anti-kidnapping ordinance by the Edo State House of Assembly and signed by Governor Monday Okpebholo, any home that is discovered to be used for kidnapping will be razed.

“This will discourage others from doing the same. Before you offer someone your house for rent, you have to do a profile on them. Before you hand out your property, go to the police station and ask them to assist you profile the new member.

The state administration has issued a directive to rid the state of all criminal elements and make it livable for everyone, therefore he promised the people that the exercise would be ongoing.
