Due to accusations of misbehavior, financial misappropriation, fraud, and egregious abuse of office, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has announced the immediate suspension of three national officers.
Nnadi Clarkson, the party’s national auditor, Chukwuma Uchechukwu, its national youth leader, and Shehu Gabam, its national chairman, were all suspended, according to reports.
SDP National Publicity Secretary Araba Aiyenigba made the announcement of the suspensions in a statement.
He clarified that the national officers’ suspension was the result of a resolution passed at the SDP National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, which was held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Aiyenigba went on to say that the NWC’s conduct complies with the party’s constitution.
In the exercise of its sole authority, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) suspended the following underlisted Party officers on June 24, 2025, in accordance with Articles 19.1, 19.301, and 19.5 of the 2022 Social Democratic Party Constitution (as amended). The suspension was based on a prima facie case of misconduct, financial misappropriation, malfeasance and fraudulent activities, gross abuse of office, and other violations and violations of the Party’s Constitution. They’re:
1. The National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam
2. Mr. Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu, the National Youth Leader up until now 3. Previously, Mr. Clarkson Nnadi was the National Auditor.
The statement stated that the action was taken in response to the Disciplinary Committee’s report and a White Paper that examined the conclusions and suggestions regarding the accusations made against the officers in question.
The NWC also discussed the White Paper’s suggestions about certain SDP operations during the meeting, including those of some alleged disloyal members who were detained after breaking into the party’s national secretariat in July.
In order to restore integrity, discipline, and internal order inside the party, the SDP pledged to put the paper’s recommendations into practice.
The National Working Committee also reviewed a different report that described how several disloyal and nonconforming party members, including Messrs. Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, Abubakar Dogara, Nuraddeen Bisalla, Solsuema Osaro, Ambo Ekpeyong, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Humphrey Unwukaeze, and Judith Israel Shuaibu, entered the party’s National Secretariat by force during the unholy hours of Monday, July 28, 2025, and were apprehended by law enforcement.
“The Nigerian Police have arrested and detained these bold intruders, along with the stolen items that were discovered in their possession, including valuables and sensitive official documents that were taken from the SDP Secretariat. They are currently facing charges in a court of law after being arraigned against them,” the party stated.
