Orita Adeba and Sangotedo residents in Lakowe were plunged into great sadness over the weekend when two young men were brutally slain in separate suspected retaliation cult confrontations.
According to reports, the occurrences were the most recent in a series of fights tied to cults that have killed a number of people in Lagos State in recent weeks.
The victim, wearing brown shorts and a white vest, with dreadlocks, was shown in a widely shared video laying face-up in a pool of blood while mourners and locals gathered nearby, wailing and snapping photos.
According to a Lakowe resident who asked not to be named due to the delicate nature of the situation, the victim was macheted and left by the side of the road. In addition, he said that the attackers cut off the victim’s right wrist and fled with it.
“It’s accurate. Yesterday, it took place. The body was left at Orita Adeba, which is across from the Lakowe Bus Stop. We are no longer able to sleep at night. He was killed by the Aye cult, we found out. His wrist had been severed. For a few weeks now, they have started murdering one another to score points,” he informed reporters.

Although locals blamed cult violence for the Lakowe murder, a second young guy was discovered dead in the Sangotedo neighborhood.
The victim, wearing a white singlet and black jeans, was seen in a video posted by the Naija Confra Telegram page laying dead at the side of the road.
As of the filing of this story, the police have not yet provided any information regarding the events.
