Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has named boxer Anthony Joshua as the state’s sports ambassador.
A polite call to the Government House in Abeokuta, Abiodun, led to the appointment.
Joshua was given a letter formally appointing him as Sports Ambassador by Governor Abiodun. Joshua was commended by the governor for his commitment, self-control, and excellence, pointing out that these qualities are consistent with the state’s values.
The Gateway Games National Sports Festival has been rescheduled for May of next year, and the 35-year-old boxer will light the torch for it as well.
In addition to formally confirming you as our sports ambassador today, I would like to publicly ask that you return to light the Gateway Sports Festival torch; you will be the one doing so,” Abiodun stated.
