Davido, a well-known musician from Nigeria, has spoken up about the harsh criticism he received in his own country because of his wealthy background. The singer stated in a recent podcast interview that if his affluent upbringing had been well-known at the time, it might have been a significant challenge for him early in his musical career.
By the time the world realized how wealthy he was, Davido clarified, he had already recorded a number of successful songs and amassed a sizable fan following. He claimed that this initial momentum protected him from the criticism that could have stopped him from achieving his goals.
Nothing could have prevented Davido from pursuing music, he insisted in spite of the criticism. His intense love for the craft was highlighted, and he stated that he would have persisted even in the face of difficult circumstances.
Reflecting on the difficulties of celebrity, the award-winning artist compared his experience to a change in power. When you’re on the rise, people tend to back you, but once you’re at the top, they turn against you, he said.
Even so, Davido has remained successful in the music business, creating hit after hit and retaining a devoted following in spite of constant criticism.
“I am Nigeria’s most criticized artist,” Davido declared. I’m burning, and I’ve been burning for a long time. They were unaware of my dad’s wealth at first. Therefore, I didn’t experience the stigma of a wealthy child performing music as much as I should have.

“My father’s wealth was unknown to the public. Before they discovered that my dad was wealthy, I had already recorded three successful songs, so it was too late.
“But I just wanted to do music. I didn’t give a damn if I ended up homeless. I just wanted to do that at that moment. I would not be stopped.
People eventually began to despise me because my dad is wealthy. However, I continue to release quality music, and it continues to work out.
“Everyone gets criticized once they become the best at something. You are running for office, and people vote for you because they like you. But when you become president, they hate you.”
