According to new information that surfaced online, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, the anchor for ARISE News, died as a result of the Nigerian police’s incompetence.
According to reports, Sommie, as she is affectionately known, was killed on September 29, 2025, during an armed robbery at her home in Katampe, Abuja.
A family friend, Kaanayo Nwachukwu, who discussed the incident with Sahara Reporters, denied early allegations that the 29-year-old presenter was attacked personally by the armed thieves.
According to Nwachukwu, Sommie lived in a six-unit apartment complex that was overrun by armed bandits who moved from apartment to apartment and took possession of the inhabitants’ possessions.
Sommie tried to flee before the burglars arrived at her apartment because she was afraid of the noise from the apartments next door, according to Nwachukwu.
When police finally came minutes later, he emphasized that Sommie was still alive. He said the dead had leaped out of her window and suffered serious injuries from the fall.
