The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja is hosting an emergency meeting of the party’s National Working Committee.
Currently taking place behind closed doors on Tuesday, the meeting comes amid the PDP’s continuous internal difficulties and a wave of defections that have swept through the opposition party’s ranks and strongholds.
Reports stated that Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former PDP vice presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa switched to the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC, last week.

Following a closed-door meeting in Asaba, Monday Onyeme, the deputy governor, state commissioners, local government chairmen, and the state’s grassroots political apparatus relocated collectively to the APC, reportedly shattering the opposition party’s system in Delta State.
