Residents of Delta, Cross River, and Edo States paid the least price for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol in August.

The National Bureau of Statistics ( NBS) disclosed this in its Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch (August 2024) released on Sunday in Abuja.

According to the bureau, the residents of the three states paid N667.50, N672, and N676.25 for petrol during the period respectively.

On the other hand, residents of Benue, Bauchi, and Gombe States paid the highest amount for petrol last month.

Residents of the three states paid N941.24, N935.71 and N925.00, respectively.

The NBS added that the average petrol price for last month was N830.46 per litre.

According to the bureau, the average retail price paid by consumers indicated a 32.51 percent increase compared to the N626.70 recorded in August 2023.

On month-to-month basis, the average price increased by 7.78% from N770.54 in July

Lastly, on the Zonal profile, the North-East Zone had the highest average retail price of N908.21, while the South-South Zone had the lowest price of N677.11.
