By Naomisophyblog

CP Aina Adesola recounts his achievements since the assumption of office as the 23rd commissioner of police of Delta State. He said the Delta State Police Command, through the operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), recorded major operational successes against kidnapping, violent crime, and illegal arms trafficking, resulting in the arrest of suspects and recovery of firearms, ammunition, and cash.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED INTER-STATE KIDNAPPER AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK-47 RIFLE, ONE K-2 RIFLE, ONE PUMP-ACTION GUN, ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SEVEN (157) ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION, AND FIVE (5) MAGAZINES: Acting on credible intelligence on the activities of a notorious interstate kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate terrorising parts of Delta, Bayelsa, and Rivers States, the Officer-in-Charge of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) activated a series of sustained, intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling the criminal network. The operation recorded a major breakthrough on 29th December 2025, when the operatives extended investigations to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, leading to the arrest of one Abubakar Mohammed (male, adult). Following intensive interrogation, the suspect led operatives to a concealed bush location along Tobia Village by the Amasoma area of Airport Road, Bayelsa State, where a cache of arms was unearthed. Recovered from the location, buried and carefully wrapped in a sack, were: One (1) AK-47 rifle, seventy-six (76) rounds of live ammunition, and two (2) AK-47 magazines. The investigation further yielded additional successes. At about 1801 hours on 2 January 2026, the suspect again guided operatives to another hidden arms dump located between the Ughelli–Warri axis at Uyamuge Forest, where one (1) K2 rifle, forty-nine (49) rounds of live ammunition, three (3) K2 magazines, one (1) pump-action gun, and thirty-two (32) live cartridges were found. The suspect is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

DEATH OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER/RECOVERY OF ONE K-2 RIFLE, TWO LOCALLY MADE GUNS AND AMMUNITION: Sequel to intelligence received by operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team, the team on 6th January 2026 stormed Ohoror community along Ughelli-Patani Road, where some suspected kidnappers were sighted. The suspects, upon sighting the police, opened fire, and in the ensuing gun duel, one of them was hit and sustained serious gunshot injuries. Upon searching the area, one K-2 rifle, two locally made guns, live ammunition and cartridges concealed in a bag were recovered. The injured suspect was taken to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The manhunt for the fleeing suspect is ongoing.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED GUN RUNNERS / ARMED ROBBERS AND RECOVERY OF ONE PUMP-ACTION GUN AND ₦280,000 CASH: In another operation, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), acting on credible intelligence, successfully carried out a sting operation at about 1915 hours on 3rd January 2026 in the Ovieta Street area of Ughelli Town, leading to the arrest of three (3) suspects involved in an illegal arms transaction. The suspects arrested are Areuro Oke (male, 38 years), identified as the intended buyer of a pump-action gun; Onos Echabor (male, 47 years), identified as the middleman in the transaction; and Akpofure Emmanuel (male, 45 years). All suspects are residents of the Ughelli North and Ughelli South Local Government Areas of Delta State. Recovered during the operation were one (1) pump-action gun and the sum of ₦280,000 (two hundred and eighty thousand naira), being part payment for the illegal arms deal. Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF DRUG BARONS AND RECOVERY OF HARD DRUGS: On 03/01/2026 and 5/01/2026, operatives of the Quick Response Squad, acting on intelligence, stormed and raided a black spot located at New Road by Ewereto Junction, Sapele, and Agofure Park in Effurun Roundabout, Warri, Delta State, where some suspected drug barons were arrested, identified as Bemigho Omoghomi ‘m’, aged 28 years old, Onoriode Samuel ‘m’, 46 years old, and two other suspects. Large quantities of illicit drugs were recovered from them. Suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

RAID OF DRUGIST HIDEOUT, RECOVERY OF WEEDS SUSPECTED TO BE LOUD, SK AND INDIAN HEMP: Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of Area Command Effurun stormed the shop of one Chioma Ada. Ifuwe Wanogho was arrested along the Sapele-Warri road, and forty-five wraps of weeds suspected to be loud and SK and a bag of dry weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered. The suspect, who has been in the business for about four years, was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Delta State Police Command under my leadership reassures members of the public of our unwavering commitment to combating kidnapping, violent crime, proliferation of illegal firearms and other vices within the state. Members of the public are urged to continue to support the police with timely, useful and credible information, while warning criminal elements that all forms of criminality will be met with decisive and lawful action. Parents are also advised to caution and monitor their wards and admonish and encourage them to stay away from crime.
