Delta State Internal Security: How CP-SAT cracks down on kidnappers and cultists

The Delta State Police Command’s CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) and other operatives have conducted operations resulting in the arrest of suspected kidnappers and cultists, with recovered firearms and cult regalia. The command’s efforts aim to address security concerns in the state.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK-47 RIFLE AND TWO PUMP ACTION GUNS: Acting on credible intelligence on the activities of some suspected kidnappers in Ogwashi-Uku, Ubuluku, and Isseluku, on 27/07/2025 at about 0120 hrs, operatives of CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson in a combined effort with operatives from the command’s X-Squad and Buffalo Patrol Teams of the command, stormed a suspected criminal hideout along Ibusa Road and effected the arrest of a notorious suspected kidnapper known as Chiadiji Collins, AKA “Smooth,” m’ 42 yrs, who has been on the command’s watchlist for a series of kidnapping activities within the Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku and Asaba axis. Upon interrogation of the suspect, he led operatives to his residence at Ewulu community in Aniocha South LGA, Delta State, where a search warrant was executed, during which one AK-47 rifle and forty (40) rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition were recovered. Preliminary investigation also led to the arrest of one Ezechie Andrew of the same community, in whose possession two (2) pump actions and two (2) live cartridges were recovered. Both suspects are gang members suspected to be involved in a series of kidnappings in Ogwashi-Uku, Isseluku, and other parts of Delta State. They are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTISTS AND RECOVERY OF ONE BERETTA PISTOL: On the 30th of July, 2025, at about 0630 hrs, operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS), while acting on credible information, stormed a criminal hideout at Big Gate, Campus III, Abraka, where Benjamin Okwufulueze, 21 yrs; Augustine Ifeanyi, 22 yrs; and Iruma Japheth, 27 yrs, were arrested, and one fabricated Beretta pistol with four live ammunition was recovered. Also recovered were one black cap with an Eiye inscription and one battle axe. Suspects confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity. They are all in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

The commissioner of police of Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, urges parents and guardians to discourage their children and wards from all forms of criminality and cult-related activities and also advises members of the public to contact the police and report any suspicious persons or movements in their environment.
