Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, has been asked by House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu to support President Bola Tinubu by joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) rather than being undecided.
According to reports, Kalu revealed this on Monday when speaking to APC members and his supporters at a town hall gathering and food distribution at his rural Bende, Abia State, home.
He emphasized that Tinubu would not back a non-APC member and claimed that Otti would have the complete support of Abia APC members if he joined the party.
“I want to use this opportunity again to invite Governor Alex Otti to join our party,” he declared. We will support him if he joins our party, but if he is a member of another party and wants to work for the president, that’s foul.
The Deputy Speaker informed party members that he had not announced his plan to run for governor of Abia State in 2027 and that he was still consulting, listening to the APC’s national leadership, and “waiting for signal.”
“Join the APC if you wish to work for the President.” The President won’t defect from the APC to back someone who isn’t a member.
The Deputy Speaker informed party members that he had not announced his plan to run for governor of Abia State in 2027 and that he was still consulting, listening to the APC’s national leadership, and “waiting for signal.”
Additionally, Kalu said that hired social media agents recruited in Abia State were insulting him on a daily basis and that his actions, including empowerment programs, were being improperly monitored and misconstrued as an attempt to become governor in 2027.
