Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, has declared that Peter Obi, a previous presidential candidate, is not ready to take office.
In an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, he made the statement.
Obi is an amazing man, according to Melaye, but he lacks the necessary skills to bring Nigeria together.
However, I must add that Peter Obi is an amazing Nigerian. He is an amazing person, and I have a great deal of respect for him, but this is not the right time for him to be president,” Melaye remarked.

Melaye, meantime, has mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) for opposing the electronic broadcast of election results in real time, characterizing the party’s position as a manifestation of fear and insecurity despite its political domination.
Melaye reportedly remarked in a statement on his 𝕏 (previously Twitter) account on Tuesday that it was odd that a party controlling 31 states would oppose changes that advance election transparency.
“APC allows members to register online, but it does not want results to be sent electronically. He wrote, “They still fear with 31 governors.”
The former senator warned that the ruling party’s internal breakdown was imminent and accused the APC of undermining electoral reforms in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

Melaye’s remarks coincide with huge demonstrations in Abuja and on social media regarding the Senate’s decision to remove the revised Electoral Act’s need for real-time electronic transmission of election results.
Pro-democracy activists, youth organizations, opposition leaders, and civil society organizations have argued that eliminating the clause will compromise election integrity and allow for post-election manipulation.
