Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a former Zamfara State governorship candidate and patron of the Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council 2023 for Social Development, has opposed the proposal for a state of emergency in Zamfara State.
Such requests are only supported by desperate politicians who lost elections and wish to take over illegally in order to plunder the treasury and deprive the populace, according to a statement issued by the Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development’s Shinkafi.
“We urge President Bola Tinubu and all democratic supporters to ignore them as they bask in their grandiose illusions, as we are aware of their antics as outdated politicians,” he stated.
“The goal of these agents provocateurs is to divert Governor Dauda Lawal’s attention and throw the state into instability as it existed prior to his inauguration on May 29, 2023.”
The Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, amended Constitution’s stringent requirements for the removal of a duly elected governor and state legislators, as well as the president’s authority to declare a state of emergency in any region of the nation, are not understood by these reactionary forces, who are blinded by local interests. A lone administrator is an anomaly and an undemocratic practice.
Undoubtedly, neither the removal of the governor nor the declaration of a state of emergency in Zamfara State are permitted under any of the explicit clauses in the country’s Constitution. It is not wise to generate political unrest and overheat the polity.
Instead of force, the rule of law governs Nigeria. In a constitutional democracy, autocracy, tyranny, and dictatorship have no place. President Tinubu, a Democrat who pledged to protect the Constitution, will not give in to political operatives demanding a state of emergency in any state where the electorate has rejected them.

“Politicians in Zamfara State are urged by Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development to follow the law, respect democratic principles, values, and ethics, and avoid politics of resentment, which is detrimental to the progress of our hard-won democracy.”
“Zamfara State’s security, public safety, and order have greatly improved as a result of President Tinubu’s direct combat against armed banditry in the state, supported by Governor Dauda Lawal and our valiant soldiers and other security services.”
“Enhanced security opened the door for thriving economic activity, social services, and infrastructure development, all of which worked together to deliver vital democratic benefits to citizens, such as the payment of the national minimum wage of ₦70,000 to civil servants and the pledge to resolve any ambiguities in the implementation of the national minimum wage for senior civil servants.”
Governor Lawal is a man of unwavering effort with extraordinary political sagacity, leadership acumen, and tenacity of purpose to provide citizens with the fruits of democracy and alleviate their suffering, as outlined in his Rescue Mission. If the groups and their sponsors set out to divert him, they have failed miserably.
“Partisan politics are not yet appropriate for the main election in 2027. Everyone should settle down and help create a better Zamfara State. Instead of hostility, it is time for patriotism.
