Group D for the eagerly awaited 2025 Women’s AfroBasket Championship has been assigned to Nigeria’s D’Tigress, the current African champions.
D’Tigress is grouped with Mozambique and Rwanda for the competition, which will begin in Côte d’Ivoire on July 26 and run until August 3.
The Nigerian women’s basketball team, led by head coach Rena Wakama, is committed to winning the tournament for the seventh time in a row and defending their title.

Expectations are high for the squad to build on their recent triumphs after D’Tigress displayed their talent by making it to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
At the forthcoming AfroBasket Championship, they hope to further establish their supremacy in African women’s basketball, and their expertise and tenacity will be essential.
The D’Tigress are the most dominant squad in the league, so take note. Since they had won the competition four times in a row, a victory this year would mark the team’s fifth consecutive victory and seventh overall in the AfroBasket Championship.
This year’s host country, Côte d’Ivoire, will compete against famed teams Angola and Egypt in Group A. In the meantime, South Sudan, Cameroon, and Mali make form a strong roster in Group B. Guinea, Uganda, and Senegal will face off in Group C.
