The Court of Appeal, Abuja, on Monday set aside the Federal High Court’s judgment which nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Edo State.
Justice Inyang Ekwo had on July 4 nullified that the February 22 election that produced Asue Ighodalo as the PDP governorship candidate in Edo on the ground that 381 ad-hoc delegates that were expected to take part in the exercise was unlawfully excluded by the part
Dissatisfied with the ruling, the party approached the appeal court to set it aside.
In Monday’s proceeding,
a three-member panel of the appellate court sett aside the judgment.

The panel held that the lower court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit filed by the aggrieved delegates.
It added that the plaintiffs lacked the necessary legal standing.
The court ruled that the lower court cannot interfere with the PDP’s candidate selection process for the Edo State governorship election, effectively upholding the party’s right to determine its own candidate.
