A suspected infamous kidnapper who was terrorizing Auchi and the surrounding area was slain by Nigerian Army 4 Brigade operatives in Benin City, Edo State.

During operation IGBO DANU 1, four kidnapped captives were reportedly saved unharmed by the 4 Brigade operatives of the 2 Division Nigerian Army.

In a statement provided to reporters on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Benin City, revealed this.

According to Anyanwu, the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) participated in the operation.

He said that the four victims were saved in Warrake Forest in the State’s Owan East Local Government Area and that the infamous kidnapper had been neutralized.

He claims that on March 3, 2026, troops from Operation IGBO DANU 1 conducted a night operation in Warake Forest, Auchi Local Government Area, in collaboration with members of the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and local vigilantes.

“During a night patrol, the troops responded to gunfire heard in the forest with a vigorous pursuit and little use of firearms.

During the encounter, a renowned kidnapper who had been terrorizing Auchi and its surroundings was neutralized by the brave forces.

“The remaining criminals were forced to abandon their victims and flee into the bush due to the superior firepower of the troops,” he claimed.

He listed Stella Abbas, Tina Ododa, Razak Rashid, and Mutanibi Kalifa as the victims who had been saved.

According to him, the victims were between the ages of 29, 27, 19, and 16 when they were saved unharmed and subsequently reunited with their families.

Anyanwu listed N650,000 in cash, shoes, a power bank, and cell phones among the items found on the neutralized kidnapper.
