Yul Edochie, a Nigerian actor and past presidential candidate, has once again sparked online debate about his political ambitions.
Edochie announced his intention to become governor of Anambra State and endorsed Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, in a recent Instagram post.
The image, together with a text describing their political goals, instantly drew attention from Nigerians across social media sites.

Edochie, who previously sought the president, now looks to be shifting his focus to a governorship race in Anambra, proving his continued involvement in Nigerian politics.

It should be noted that the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) proclaimed less than a month ago that the state’s governorship seat is not a gift to the Bola Tinubu family.

This reaction followed recent group efforts and the endorsement of Seyi Tinubu, President Tinubu’s son, to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Lagos State’s next governor.

The PDP, on the other hand, has stated that Lagosians will oppose any attempts to impose the president’s son as the next candidate for the state’s highest political office in 2027.

In November, Hakeem Amode, the state PDP spokesperson, stated, “Lagos will not serve him.”

Amode questioned the legitimacy of governorship as a hereditary office, implying that it is inappropriate for a son to replace his father in such a role.

He highlighted that if the Tinubu faction employs techniques similar to those used in Ondo and Edo states, they will face substantial opposition.
