According to reports, security guards physically abused VDM and blindfolded him while he was being arrested.
Social media activist Martins Innocent Otse, better known online as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been granted administrative bail, according to confirmation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Over the weekend, VDM was taken into custody at an Abuja GTBank location. According to reports, he went to the bank to contest a dubious loan deduction from his mother’s account—a loan for which she apparently never submitted an application.

His imprisonment caused a great deal of worry, with many claiming that prominent people influenced the EFCC’s decision to detain him as payback for his vocal social media presence.
Otse was arrested in relation to “severe allegations of financial malfeasance,” according to a statement released by the EFCC on Tuesday. The agency clarified that it was able to hold him for longer than the first 24 hours allowed by law after receiving many petitions and obtaining a legitimate remand order.
The EFCC announced that he has been offered administrative bail and would be released after fulfilling the requirements, even though he is still in detention.
Like any other suspect the Commission is looking into, Otse has the legal right to be detained by the EFCC. In this respect, the proper Remand Order was acquired. He has been granted administrative bail and will be released after all requirements have been met.

“However, insinuations about its motive in carrying out its assignment should no longer continue. The EFCC should be free to carry out its duties without interference or fear. “Charges will be filed as soon as investigations are completed,” the statement said.
The agency further clarified that Otse’s detention resulted from his failure to reply to many official invitations given to him using his known addresses and contact methods.
As part of its fundamental objective to combat economic and financial crimes, the EFCC emphasized that the claims entail substantial financial malfeasance, which is within its purview.
There has been increasing domestic and international clamor for his release since the arrest.
