The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has announced that it will be deferring its February 2025 meetings indefinitely.
This announcement was made in a statement released on Thursday by FAAC Secretary Ali Mohammed.
According to the announcement, the honorable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy was sincerely sorry for any trouble the postponement may have caused.
According to Mohammed’s letter to FAAC members, “I am directed to inform you that the Federation Account Allocation Committee meetings for the month of February 2025 have been postponed, in accordance with our earlier notice referenced F.12090/T/68 dated February 14, 2025 on the above subject.”
“Given the above, I am to further inform you that a new date for the meeting will be communicated to you later, and the previously issued communiqué will be reviewed accordingly,” the statement said.
Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday at his official home in Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
On Wednesday night, it was reported that Akpabio’s motorcade was parked outside the building. Since journalists were not allowed inside, it was impossible to identify the people inside the villa, but other cars were also observed pulling in.
Hours before the meeting, the Senate had called on intelligence chiefs to look into claims made by U.S. Congressman Perry Scott that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) had been providing financial support to terrorist groups, including Boko Haram.

Senator Mohammed Ndume of the Borno South Senatorial District issued an Order of Urgent National Security under Order 41, which was followed by the Senate resolution.
In the plenary session on Wednesday, Akpabio declared that if USAID was found guilty of funding terrorism, Nigeria would not permit the organization to continue its operations there.
