Ahead of a number of formal meetings, including a planned meeting with Attilio Fontana, the president of the Lombardy Region, on Thursday, Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has arrived in Milan, Italy.
Wike’s arrival was verified by the delegation’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, in a statement released Wednesday from Milan.
The Minister arrived in Milan on Wednesday at around 4:30 a.m. Nigerian time after leaving Abuja on Tuesday night, according to Olayinka. Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed, the Charge d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Italy, met him there.
“The FCT Minister is scheduled to meet with the President of the Lombardy Region and agribusiness investors on Thursday while in Milan,” Olayinka said.
With almost 10 million residents, Lombardy is Italy’s most important economic center. As the second most populated region in the European Union (EU), it also has the second-highest nominal GDP of any EU region.
In addition to discussing possible agricultural and vocational education partnerships, the meeting with Fontana will also look at strategic development alliances between the FCT and the Lombardy Region.
Furthermore, Wike will meet with experts in vocational training and agribusiness investors to discuss potential avenues for educational and economic success.

Senior Special Assistant on Administration Dr. Udo Samuel Atang, Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multi-Lateral Cooperation Barrister Benedict Daudu, FCT Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development Lawan Geidam, and FCT Mandate Secretary for Education Dr. Danlami Hayyo are traveling with the Minister.
The main goals of the FCT Minister’s meeting with Attilio Fontana are to discuss potential opportunities for cooperation and assessment in the fields of agriculture and vocational education, as well as strategic development partners with the Lombardy Region.
In order to open up new opportunities, Wike will next meet with agriculture investors and vocational training specialists.
The Minister’s trip was accompanied by the FCT Mandate Secretaries for Education (Dr. Danlami Hayyo) and Agriculture and Rural Development (Mr. Lawan Geidam), as well as Senior Special Assistants on Administration (Dr. Udo Samuel Atang) and Legal and Multi-Lateral Cooperation (Barrister Benedict Daudu), according to Olayinka.
