In order to address youth unemployment, poverty, and the associated effects on restlessness, radicalization, and insecurity, the Federal Government will work with the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-Radicalization Programme (NIYEEDEP) to provide jobs for twelve million young farmers and food entrepreneurs.
At a press conference held at his Abuja office, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development, made this announcement while hosting NIYEEDEP, which was led by Coordinator Kennedy Iyere.
According to Comrade Olawande, the initiative’s goal is to give Nigerian youth the economic platform and empowerment opportunities they need to start their own businesses and become change agents and catalysts for country-building, wealth creation, poverty alleviation, crime reduction, social transformation, and economic development.

“Some strategic areas of economic engagement, including the Youth Farmers’ Cooperative Scheme, Food4All Initiative, Arts4Money Project, Tech4Jobs Scheme, Waste2Wealth Project, Youths4Wealth Scheme, Youths4Charity Outreach, Youths4Peace Initiative, and Skills2Job Initiative, will be the focus of the initiative.”
Through the establishment and administration of nationwide grassroots business clusters and cooperatives, value-chain investment integration, and youth engagement in agri-food entrepreneurship, he clarified, the project aims to achieve its goals.
In key economic sectors like technology, entertainment, renewable energy, digital commerce, innovation, and creativity, among others, the partnership will help spark a revolution in wealth creation with the goal of creating at least 6 million new jobs.
The NIYEEDEP coordinator, Comrade Kennedy Iyere, thanked the Minister for relentlessly advocating for projects that support economic growth.
He reassured the Minister that he would carry out the program successfully, highlighting its potential to boost employment, the economy, and community advancement in general.
