Simon Ekpa, the self-declared prime minister of Biafra, will shortly be extradited from Finland to Nigeria, according to a prosecuting witness on Friday.
According to the witness for the Federal Government, Ekpa will be extradited to stand prosecution for his support of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB.
The statement was made by the witness, who was only named as “AAA” and a Department of State Services (DSS) employee, during cross-examination by Kanu’s lead attorney, Chief Kanu Agabi, in the Federal High Court in Abuja, which was presided over by Justice James Omotosho.
The witness was a member of the squad that apprehended Kanu at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Lagos on October 15, 2015.
He said that because of his support for IPOB and for “inciting violence,” Ekpa had already been taken into custody and was presently being extradited.

The witness also attested to the fact that when Kanu was arrested in 2015, no guns or other violent instruments were discovered in his hands.
He added that since it was proven that the woman in Kanu’s hotel room had met the defendant on social media, she was not regarded as a suspect.
The witness stated in her testimony that “the lady was adjudicated to be innocent.”
Justice Omotosho postponed the trial until May 6, 7, and 8, 2025, after the sessions concluded.
The leader of IPOB is currently on trial for terrorism-related offenses.
