Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, stated that Kano Pillars deserved their victory in the Matchday 35 battle.
According to reports, the Pride of Rivers lost 2-0 to Kano Pillars on Friday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, with goals from Ahmed Musa and Rabiu Ali.
Finidi stated that his side will focus on maximizing points in their forthcoming home games for the rest of the season.
“If we look at the overall performance with the chances created, Kano Pillars deserved to win,” Finidi said in a postgame interview.
“For us, we have to go back and see how we can win our home games, which I am very confident about.”
Rivers United remains second in the league table, with 58 points.
Meanwhile, Remo Stars are one win away from winning their first Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, following Kano Pillars’ excellent 2-0 win over Rivers United on April 25th.
Kano Pillars put on a solid display during the NPFL match at Sani Abacha Stadium, breaking the deadlock in the 64th minute thanks to Ahmed Musa’s goal.
The victory was secured in the 76th minute when Rabiu Ali converted a penalty kick, giving Pillars a huge win. This result leaves Rivers United with 58 points after 35 matches.
Remo Stars top the table with 65 points from 34 games, making their upcoming game crucial because they just need one win to clinch the championship.

The current league standings show Remo Stars leading with 65 points, followed by Rivers United with 58. Ikorodu City and Abia Warriors are level on 53 points, with Bendel and Kano Pillars rounding out the top six, each on 50 points, but Pillars have one extra encounter under their belt.
Remo Stars’ continuous performance this season has put them in an advantageous position.
Winning their next league match against the Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, April 27, would not only crown them NPFL champions, but would also be a significant accomplishment for the club.
