Former All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy National Publicity Secretary Timi Frank has denounced the latest verbal assault on former Rivers State Governor Dr. Peter Odili by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

Frank characterized Wike’s remarks as an example of his tendency to abandon comrades and donors in a statement issued on Tuesday.

At a Special Thanksgiving Service hosted by the divisive Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Port Harcourt, Wike called Odili a “rent seeker” and a “ingrate” for allegedly backing the current Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. This sparked the controversy.

In response, Frank stated that Wike’s comments reveal his “irredeemable unpredictability” and a tendency to convert friends into enemies.

“This will not be the first time, nor will it be the last. Nigerians know that Wike deceived former President Goodluck Jonathan and his spouse, Patience, after they backed his ascent to power.

Frank claimed that although he greatly benefited from Rotimi Amaechi, another of his political patrons, “he also worked against him.”

By forming partnerships to guarantee the party’s defeat, Wike allegedly undermined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential race, according to Frank.

Wike’s current activities, he claimed, are part of a larger plan to undermine the PDP in the run-up to the 2027 elections.

“He is using all of his antics in the FCT, including finishing and commissioning projects, to establish himself as a serious contender for president in 2027,” Frank asserted.

He cautioned President Bola Tinubu from making hasty decisions with Wike, speculating that the minister’s allegiance would change as the 2027 elections draw near.

Similar to Brutus in Julius Caesar, Wike frequently betrays his allies just when they need him most. Wike views loyalty to political connections as anathema. Frank warned, “No one else should be in charge if he isn’t.”

Frank warned Tinubu to be on the lookout, claiming that Wike’s political ploys would eventually threaten the president himself.
