Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s media aide Paul Ibe has responded to the police shooting of Nigerians during the Free Nnamdi Kanu demonstration.
The shooting of Nigerians, according to Ibe, shows that the EndSARS protest has not taught us any lessons.
Omoyele Sowore, an activist politician, initiated the demonstration to call for the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu.
During the demonstration, police used tear gas canisters to scatter the protesters.
Ibe responded by writing on X: “Protest and dissent are essential components of democracy.” Nigerians are being fired at and subjected to tear gas at the @YeleSowore #FreeNnamdiKanuNow rally in Abuja, while Americans participate in the #NoKingsDayOct18th demonstration.
This coincides with the fifth anniversary of the #EndSARS #LekkiMassacre, which is ironic. No lessons were learned.
“We continue on the same path of impunity, tyranny, intolerance for dissent, and the slaughter of innocent people.”
