26 June 2025, Abuja Suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara met with suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Martins Amaewhule in Abuja on Thursday in a major step toward ending the political situation in Rivers State.
According to people familiar with the situation, the meeting, which took place in the capital of Nigeria behind closed doors, was friendly and the first time the two leaders had discussed reconciliation since President Bola Tinubu suspended them.
Both sides allegedly exchanged pleasantries, joked, and indicated a willingness to participate in a productive manner, with other State Assembly members also present.
