Sim Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has denied the accusations that he is not a politician and questioned the prerequisite of wishing to be a politician.
According to reports, Fubara made this known while implying that he would be reestablishing relations with Nyesom Wike, his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Recall that following the governor’s inauguration in 2023, the relationship between Wike and Fubara soured.
The state House of Assembly and other governmental institutions were impacted by the divide between the two before President Bola Tinubu proclaimed a six-month state of emergency because of the high level of security.
Fubara allegedly visited with Tinubu and Wike to try to mend fences during his suspension.
Speaking to a group of his fans in a widely shared video on the internet, Fubara stated that there is no reason why he and his “Oga,” who is a reference to Wike, cannot live in harmony.
Fubara said that the respect he has gained is more significant than the one that is being imposed, even though there have been discussions about him not being a politician.

We want peace so that Rivers can move forward, therefore there is no reason why my Oga and I can’t have it,” he remarked.
They replied, “I’m not a politician, but I don’t know what the prerequisites are to want to be a politician,” but I know that respect earned, not forced, is what matters most in this life. I want to beg everyone to understand this.
