Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that any merger aimed at overthrowing President Bola Tinubu in 2027 will fail.
After visiting former President Muhammadu Buhari’s home in Kaduna State with members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Ganduje made this statement on Friday.
According to reports, Buhari received Sallah greetings from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in his Kaduna residence on Friday, along with former governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Jibrilla Bindow (Adamawa), and Achike Udenwa (Imo).
Ganduje told reporters during the meeting that the APC is unconcerned with opposition lawmakers forming coalitions.
“We are not at all concerned. It’s just history attempting to happen again. They embarked on a joint venture that will fail because, based on what we have observed, there are just a few pieces that are incompatible. We won’t give away our specific strategy since it’s a game, but we can guarantee you that we are up to the challenge,” he said.

The former Kano State governor emphasized that the APC already had 21 states and would soon welcome some governors who would defect to the party.
He continued by saying that the APC would continue to be “the strongest party in West Africa” after 2027.
“We are considering adding more states to our coalition. To boost our total, we can either run for office and beat the governors or they will come. Although we are at ease, we are not sleeping. We will go on,” he continued.
