Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue State, has said that his administration has launched a vigorous fight against insecurity, emphasizing the need to totally eradicate the problem.
Additionally, he praised the federal government for supporting the state’s efforts to combat banditry.
Alia emphasized the importance of unity, shared responsibility, and continuous prayers in restoring peace and driving socio-economic progress across Benue.
In the New Banquet Hall of Government House in Makurdi, the governor made the statements on Wednesday night while entertaining Muslim devotees to an Iftar.
He saw the event as a potent symbol of solidarity as well as having spiritual significance.
Speaking about the overlap between Ramadan and Lent, Alia stated that the time of year presents a special opportunity to promote interfaith harmony and group prayers.
The governor asked citizens to stay vigilant and assist security forces with timely and reliable information in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula.
He promised that his administration will keep taking calculated steps to safeguard people and property throughout the entire state.
“We are invited by God to join together in prayers for our state and our country during this unique time of Ramadan and Lent,” he said.
Alia acknowledged the difficulties his administration inherited in addressing persistent security concerns, but he emphasized that the government is still committed to combating criminal activity throughout Benue.
Even while insecurity is still a problem, we are steadfast in our will to deal with it head-on. We will prevail with perseverance and God’s grace.
He affirmed, “This monster is called insecurity, but we have started cutting the head and it must die.”
The governor reiterated his economic agenda and emphasized the need for stakeholders to work together to reposition Benue as a desirable location for investment.
