The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Tuesday, presented the 2024 supplementary budget of N94.6 billion to the State House of Assembly for approval.
The governor’s request was conveyed in letter and read at the plenary by the House Majority Leader, Babayo Akuyam.
He said the request was in line with Section 122 of the 1999 Constitution, adding that the budget would facilitate the execution of priority projects aimed at improving the well-being of the citizens.
Mohammed reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure and human capital development, health, and educational sectors.
The Speaker of the House, Abubakar Sulaiman, referred the proposed estimate to the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation for further legislative actions.
Sulaiman announced the establishment of the House Committee on Food Security and Nutrition.
He said the committee would work towards achieving optimal nutrition status in the state.
“This committee is for the citizens of Bauchi with a focus on the most vulnerable, especially women and children as well as Internally Displaced Persons to meet their food and nutrition needs,” the speaker added.
