The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has dissolved the caretaker committees of all 44 local government areas in the state with immediate effect.

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Kano.

The dissolution of the committees came one week after the state House of Assembly approved a two-month extension to their tenure.

The tenure was initially slated to expire on September 8.

Local government elections are scheduled to take place on October 26.

Governor Yusuf directed the caretaker chairmen to hand over leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management.

“This dissolution applies to all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors,” he stated.

He thanked the caretaker chairmen for their contributions to the development of their areas and hinted at potential future collaboration.
