Caleb Mutfwang, Plateau State’s governor, has comforted shopkeepers at Terminus Market who lost millions of dollars’ worth of products in a fire.
Millions of dollars’ worth of products and properties were lost when a fire ravaged Jos’s well-known Terminus Market on Tuesday.
It is still unknown where the fire originated.
Governor Mutfwang promised the traders that his government will help them in a statement released on Wednesday.
He underlined the necessity for all citizens to refrain from acts that would jeopardize the state’s unity and tranquility.
“A fire outbreak in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, has destroyed some parts of the popular Jos commercial Terminus market,” it stated. I learned with great sadness about the fire that broke out on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, damaging portions of the Terminus Market in Jos North and resulting in the loss of millions of dollars’ worth of products.

“My sympathies are with the impacted traders. Especially during these challenging economic times, I feel your sorrow. The government won’t desert you, you can be sure. We will act right now to lessen the effects of this catastrophe.
I urge composure and attention to detail. Actions that can jeopardize our beloved state’s peace and unity should be avoided. Guiding children properly is the responsibility of parents and guardians. Let’s show solidarity by standing together. Together, we will triumph.
