In a bid to enhance road safety and driving experience, the Federal Government has shut down Eko Bridge and Ramps for essential asphalt resurfacing, effective September 20 to November 20.

According to Olukorede Kesha, Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, “The closure will be full at some sections of the bridge and partial at other sections.” Kesha emphasized, “This critical project aims to improve road safety and enhance the driving experience of motorists.”

The project involves milling existing asphalt and relaying new asphalt on the bridge and ramps to address wear and tear, ensuring a smoother and safer roadway.

To mitigate disruptions, Kesha provided alternate routes:

“Motorists going to the Island from Funsho Williams Avenue should use the service lane at Alaka to connect Costain and access Eko Bridge… Island: Access Costain to connect Eko Bridge and link Apongbon.”

– Costain to Alaka/Funsho Williams Avenue: Pass through Apapa Road, Oyingbo, Adekunle, and Third Mainland Bridge

– Surulere: Use Costain, Breweries, Abebe Village, Eric Moore/Bode Thomas

Kesha urged residents and businesses to plan travel accordingly, assuring that appropriate signage and traffic control measures will guide drivers and pedestrians.

“We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to improve the country’s infrastructure,” Kesha said, apologizing for any inconvenience.

For more information on navigation and alternate routes, residents can consult online maps or transportation resources.
